Is winter getting you down?  Put away your winter blues and start dreaming about ‘Smoke on the Water’!  Brockville Hydroplane Racing Inc. is proud to announce the first annual Thousand Islands International Regatta & Festival.  We are bringing hydroplane boat racing back to Brockville!!

Brockville’s history is steeped in the tradition of boat racing. From the famous Gilbert Boats of Brockville circa 1890s – 1920’s, to the slick speed of Henderson Hydroplanes of our current times.   The St. Lawrence River has been home to speed and tradition.  On

June 20th-22nd, 2008 the Brockville City Waterfront will be home to some of the fastest boats in the world.  The waterfront will be alive with the sounds of race boats and live music. This venue will witness the excitement of the ‘Jersey Speed Skiff’ through to the hair raising speed of the ‘Grand Prix’ class of boats which reach speeds of 170 miles per hour. There will be competitors from across North America.  We also anticipate some competitors from as far away as Australia.

We are partnering with the Brockville Lions Club.  We are pleased to be taking part in their fundraising initiative which will support the many projects. Some of these projects include:  Lions Club Music Festival, Lions Club Steel Band, Brockville Area Hospitals, High School Bursaries, Lake Joseph Camp for the Blind, Canine Vision Canada, SightFirst, SightFirst II, Brockville Minor Sports, and the Palliative Care Telethon.   A portion of our corporate sponsorship funding will go directly to the Lion’s Club local and international initiatives.

In order to make this event an ongoing tradition and anchor attraction for Brockville, we must rely on community oriented companies to ensure the prosperity of our beautiful city!  The Thousand Islands International Regatta & Festival will be promoted as a destination for tourists and locals as well.  Your
