Rules For Boat Building Competition:
- Teams must register by no later than June 4th. We are only accepting up to 12 teams. Teams can register through our website at info@brockvillehydroplaneracing.com or call Bert Henderson at 613-802-1247. Refundable deposit must accompany your entry.
- There is no limit to number of people per team.
- Teams can get plans from any source they want. There are plans available online for example the minimax or minimost.
- Each team is allowed to bring 1 saw to the competition (a jig saw is recommended). Each team is allowed to bring as much duct tape as they wish.
- Each team will be given a time frame of 5 hours to complete their boat, which has to be done on site June 5, 2010. Each team will be monitored to make sure they are following the rules.
- Each team must also submit a refundable deposit of $50.00 to ensure their spot in the competition. Will be refunded once registered on the day of the competition
- Each team is also allowed to bring a drill and screws.
- On Sunday each team will be given 1 hour prior to the racing competition of their boats. Each team must have 2 paddlers from their team. These paddlers must be a registered team member from the building competition the previous day. During that hour each team can check for leaks, test their vessel and repair any leaks found. This will also give each team a chance to complete their boat if not finished from the previous day.
- There will be a bracket competition. Ex. Team 1 vs Team 2. Team 3 vs. Team 4 etc. There will also be a consolation round for the teams that lost their heat. Each losing team from round robin competition will compete against each other to make it to the semi finals.
- Each team is required to keep their boat.
- 1000 Islands International Regatta and Festival will be supplying each team with 2 sheets of plywood, 2- 2x2x8’s and some adhesive.
